1. Acceptance of Terms

By using SpotDL ("the Service", "the Tool"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and all applicable laws and regulations. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and SpotDL ("we", "us", "our").

Your continued use of the Service after any modification to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.

2. Description of Service

SpotDL is a web-based utility that allows users to convert and download audio from publicly accessible Spotify content including tracks, playlists, and albums. The Service processes user-submitted Spotify URLs and returns downloadable audio files in formats including MP3, FLAC, M4A, and OPUS.

The Service is provided free of charge. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service — in whole or in part — at any time without notice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the Service and agree to these Terms on your behalf.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements above and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

4. Permitted Use

You may use SpotDL solely for lawful personal, non-commercial purposes, including:

  • Downloading music you have a legal right to download under applicable law or license.
  • Creating personal offline copies of content for which you hold a valid subscription or license.
  • Archiving content you own or have explicit permission to reproduce.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of downloaded content complies with all applicable copyright laws, licensing agreements, and terms of service of third-party platforms including Spotify.

5. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Download, reproduce, or distribute copyrighted content without authorization from the rights holder.
  • Circumvent technological protection measures on any platform.
  • Engage in commercial distribution, resale, or monetization of downloaded content.
  • Use the Service in violation of Spotify's Terms of Service or any other third-party platform policy.
  • Transmit malicious code, conduct automated abuse, scraping, or denial-of-service attacks.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law.
Copyright Notice: Downloading copyrighted music without authorization from the rights holder may violate copyright law in your jurisdiction. You bear full legal responsibility for your downloads. SpotDL does not encourage or condone copyright infringement.

6. Intellectual Property

The SpotDL interface, design, source code, and original content are the intellectual property of SpotDL and its contributors, protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

All music, audio, metadata, and other content accessible via Spotify remains the property of its respective rights holders — artists, labels, publishers, and licensors. SpotDL claims no ownership of any third-party content processed through the Service.

SpotDL is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify AB. "Spotify" is a registered trademark of Spotify AB.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

We do not warrant that the Service will be available at any particular time, that downloads will be complete or error-free, or that any specific Spotify content will remain accessible. Service availability is subject to third-party platform changes outside our control.

We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of any content downloaded through the Service, nor for any consequences arising from your use of downloaded content.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SPOTDL AND ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SpotDL and its operators, contributors, officers, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights; or (d) any content you download, distribute, or otherwise use through the Service.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including but not limited to a breach of these Terms or conduct that we determine to be harmful to the Service, other users, or third parties.

Upon termination, all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: intellectual property provisions, disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any modification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

If you do not agree to any revised Terms, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
